"This project makes explicit curricular connections with education programmes in Ireland, north and south as well as showing relevance for Israeli and Palestinian schools. Through the creation of cross-border and trans-national links, this project addresses issues of conflict resolution, citizenship and intercultural understanding. Elements of this linking include the exchange of project materials such as video presentations, messages and posters and study visits by Israeli and Palestinian students to the participating schools in Ireland. Development Cooperation Ireland, Development Education Grants Committee are happy to support this creative educational programme."
"As National Coordinator for the post-primary school (high school) subject
“Civic, Social and Political Education” (CSPE), a subject which promotes awareness and application of civic and global citizenship…I fully support the endeavours of the Schools Across Borders project which is integrated into the school curriculum in schools in Ireland, north and south… I am happy to act in an advisory role for this project to ensure it develops in an effective and efficient manner an in accordance with our curricular requirements."
"I have had the opportunity to see for myself the value of the work being done by Schools Across Borders, and to meet some of the participants.I know from our own Irish experience the value of a process of opening the minds of young people, living in areas of conflict, to the experience of the wider world and to the way other countries have faced up and sought to tackle ethnic conflict problems.I feel that every support should be given to the efforts being made by this organisation to facilitate the process of reducing tensions between young Israeli and young Palestinians."
"I very much welcome and fully support the “Schools Across Borders” project which is a unique initiative and shines as a beacon of light in the current climate of unrest throughout the world. I gladly take this opportunity to commend this initiative which will serve to raise the awareness of the realities that young people face in conflict zones such as Israel, Palestine and Northern Ireland. It will also encourage the students to express themselves as teenagers, sharing in the spirit of friendship and understanding that will be fostered between the schools in Jerusalem, Hebron and Ireland, north and south."
"It is my pleasure to commend Mr. Darran Irvine, Programme Manager for the project “Schools Across Borders”. The aim of this project is to promote awareness of the realities that young people face in conflict zones, notably in Palestine, Israel and Northern Ireland, and to help high school students to communicate the values that are common to all young people. It is a project I fully support…May I express my thanks and appreciation for any assistance and courtesies afforded to Darran Irvine as he promotes this interesting and valuable project."
